Melanie is a clarinetist originating from Yuma, Arizona. She earned an Associates Degree in the Arts with an emphasis
in music education from Arizona Western College as well as a Bachelor's Degree in Music, Music Education from the University
of Redlands.
She has just completed the course work for a masters degree in music at the University of Redlands. Her graduate
assistantship included participation in both the university wind ensemble and orchestra where she was principal clarinetist.
Along with her duties at the university, she has earned a student spot in the Redlands Symphony Orchestra and performed often
during the 2005-2006 season.
She has been involved in the pit orchestra in such productions as
Finnians Rainbow,
Oliver,
Cole,
Oklahoma!, Hansel and Gretel, Mozart's
Don Giovanni, and Bellini's
Norma. Since
moving to Redlands, CA she has also performed with the Feast of Lights Orchestra for the past four years and performed in
the orchestra for Mozart's Requiem Mass with the University Choir.
She currently teaches clarinet and coaches chamber
groups at the Community School of Music and the Arts at the University of Redlands as well as at maintaining a large private
studio in her home and at Rubidoux and Martin Luther King High Schools in Riverside County. She also runs sectional coachings
at schools in and around Riverside, Redlands, and the Coachella Valley.
