Early Development of the Woodwind Ensemble

Eduardo Contreras

Eduardo has been playing horn for 12 years and has been involved in symphonies in the Coachella Valley for six years: two years with the Buddy Rodgers Youth Symphony located in Palm Desert and four years with the Coachella Valley Symphony. He is currently the principal horn for the Inland Valley Symphony and is also part of Will Schaefer's Desert Cities Pops Band.  He has also performed with the Redlands Symphony Orchestra on occasion. Among his other appearances, he has performed with Junior University, Rising Star Entertainment and the On Stage Theatre Company in the orchestra pit in performances of Annie Get Your Gun, The Sound of Music and Alice in Wonderland. He was also part of the soundtrack of the short film, Bandcamp, recorded in the Fox Studios and has been a part of the Feast of Lights Orchestra that performs at the University of Redlands every holiday season for four years.
Eduardo is just completed his Bachelor's degree at the University of Redlands in 2006. He attained a Bachelor's of Music degree in Music Education. During his time at Redlands he was principal horn in the University of Redlands wind ensemble and orchestra.
Eduardo also had the opportunity to have studied under Willi Schwaiger from the Mozarteum Orchestra during his study abroad semester in Salzburg, Austria in the Spring of 2005. At the University of Redlands, he studied with Dr. James Keays.
Eduardo offers private horn lessons both in the Inland Empire and in the Coachella Valley and teaches at schools in both of these areas.
Eduardo was a finalist in the University of Redlands Annual Concerto Competition. As a result, he performed the Hindemith Sonata for Horn and Piano at the President's Honor Recital in March 2006.
